SSDE Equipment Maintenance & Re-certification of Equipment

SSDE or in other words, Surface-supplied diving equipment, is the kit required for the surface-supplied diving done for various reasons like commercial and non-commercial purposes. The gear needed for this is by and large categorised as diving and support apparatus and basically used to facilitate diving operations and is required for a great section of the commercial diving operations. These units mainly comprises of the sections, which once again are bifurcated as, Breathing apparatus, helmets, corselets, breathing gas supply units and so on. Out of all the equipment, the decisive gear pertaining to surface-supplied diving is the breathing apparatus.

This is usually part of a diver's suit that connects the surface supply systems directly or via a panel. The next gear is the helmet needed to fully enclose the head portion of the diver. The other utility is also coupled in it that is the supply of breathing gas or air or oxygen. Here the flow of air from is stimulated by decreasing the compression within the head gear below the normal levels. This kind of decrease in pressure opens a valve that allows air into the helmet or the head gear. The process continues till the pressure regains to normal and the valve comes back to the former position. Another important piece of equipment is the corselet, or breastplate. This is also referred to a as a gorget. This is basically a collar-piece that rests on the shoulder piece and back. Supporting the helmet and sealing it with the suit it is made up of copper or brass. Usually connecting the suit portion, through a rubberised collar, through the brass straps, the collar presses the rubber against the corselet rim.

This arrangement makes up a water seal. Surface-supplied diving uses compressed air mixture as the breathing element needed. Air is delivered from such a source, up to the diver underwater through a rubber pipe with a provision for circulation, observing and regulation. Finally the diver's yoke or otherwise known as harness is made of very strong webbing, usually of thick and strong fibre and sometimes strong nylon cloth. This arrangement allows the diver to be picked up without any sort of risk. Weighted boots are also a very important and significant in a diver’s suit or kit. Mostly available as strapons over the boots, these are made up of lead inner soles. Another type of weight is clamped on to the ankles that are also known as ankle weights. These types of weights provide the diver with better stability especially when in upright position in the bottom of the sea or ocean thereby significantly improving work efficiency. All the same whatever may be the equipment unless they are periodically overhauled and maintained in shape, the efficiency reduces over a period of time. Hence a proper monitoring, checking, refurbishing and certifying the equipment are very much needed. We undertake expert servicing and maintenance of diving equipment. Refurbishing and renovation of diving gear and recalibration and re-certification of such equipment is also our expertise and is carried out at specified parameters and criteria.
